Jonathan is here!!!
Jonathan Becker Lauchner was born at 7:30 pm on Wednesday night, 11/16/11. He was 19.5 inches and weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces.
After laboring for 11 hours, I had little to no progress – I went in to the hospital dilated at a 1, nearly a 2 and was only dilated to a 4 after 11 hours. I was not just sitting there enjoying the quiet time, I labored quite hard. The problem…he was not dropping. As much as my body worked, he would not drop so that my cervix would dilate more; I was working for nothing. The crazy part is when I went into the OB one week before, he had dropped to where she could easily feel his head and was excited that the birth would progress as planned, if not before. Now, she could only feel the head with one finger and intense force. An epidural was given to me to help my body relax so that the cervix would hopefully dilate more…but…nothing…so a c-section was scheduled. All the family had gone out to eat when the decision was made, but they waited until everyone returned to start the process, which started the nerves and excitement for the family!!
Everyone returned at 6:45. At 6:50 they rolled me into the operating room. Ray joined us in his scrubs 15 minutes later. At 7:30 I gave birth to a precious little one. The crazy part is when Dr. Anderson opened me up, he was still trying to move away from the birth canal – they were all amazed to experience that. Come to find out, a c-section was exactly what God wanted because his head was tilted awkwardly, facing the wrong way, and the cord was around his neck – all things that would have caused an emergency c-section if labor would have naturally progressed.

Greg and I were so excited to get to come down and meet Jonathan! What a precious gift from God… and oh how we love to see the excitement and joy radiate from Dennis and Becky and the rest of the family! It is going to be so much fun watching Jonathan grow and see Dennis and Becky in action! AND.. both you and Ray will be great loving parents we can tell!
